23 August 2010

PhonepayPlus, the premium rate services regulator, today announced that Joanne Prowse has been appointed Director of Operations following a comprehensive recruitment process. Joanne will begin on 1 September and will have overall responsibility for consumer services and support, investigations and the recently-created Complaint Resolution Team.

Joanne has extensive experience of leading operations – providing strategic direction, delivering operational plans and maximising efficiency and effectiveness. Most recently, Joanne was Managing Director for Membership and Operations at PRS for Music – an organisation responsible for music royalty collection – where she delivered services for over 60,000 members and was responsible for 300 staff. Joanne led extensive operational, organisational and productivity improvement across the business and has a broad base of experience in business transformation, process re-engineering, customer service delivery, implementation of technological innovation and performance and people management.

PhonepayPlus’ Chief Executive, Paul Whiteing, commented: “Joanne’s vast operational experience will be a great asset to PhonepayPlus. The next year will see a huge shift in the way we work as we usher in our new Code and an industry-wide Registration Scheme, and Joanne’s skills will be invaluable to us as we enter this new phase of regulation.”

Joanne Prowse commented: “I am thrilled to be joining PhonepayPlus at this important time, when there are so many exciting challenges and opportunities, particularly in relation to the new Code and Registration Scheme. I am looking forward to building on the excellent work already completed and to helping Paul and the team drive forward the company’s plans and initiatives.”

Joanne replaces Simon Bates, who was Director of Standards & Communications at PhonepayPlus. Bradley Brady, previously Director of Strategy & Stakeholder Relations, will now have overall responsibility for PhonepayPlus’ communications function as part of the newly-formed directorate of Strategy & Communications.
