PhonepayPlus publishes its Business Plan and Budget 2013/14
PhonepayPlus, the UK regulator of premium rate telephone services (PRS), today publishes its Business Plan and Budget 2013/14, following consultation with industry and other stakeholders.
PhonepayPlus’ core (levy-funded) budget in 2013/14 will be £3,937,503, 1% lower on a like-for-like basis in cash terms than 2012/13 and 4.2% lower in real terms. With these savings, PhonepayPlus will have reduced its like-for-like core budget costs by nearly 25% in real terms over three years to meet its commitment in the Strategic Plan 2011/14. The Registration Scheme, which is funded separately by registration fees, will have no change in fees or exemptions to maintain stability for the year ahead.
Therefore the overall cost of regulation (which supports core functions and the Registration Scheme) will be £4,301,849, a like-for-like reduction of 0.5% in cash terms and 3.7% in real terms from 2012/13.
The adjusted levy rate for 2013/14 is reduced to 0.39% from 0.48% last year because of an increase in fine income last year.
Key themes set out in the plan will see PhonepayPlus work with industry to strengthen compliance, continue to protect vulnerable consumers and prepare for the digital future.
