PhonepayPlus publishes refreshed Guidance for industry
In February we launched a public consultation on five pieces of Guidance for the premium rate services industry that had been amended or developed afresh. Today we publish three out of the five pieces of Guidance and a statement following consultation.
The process of guidance development is ongoing and forms part of wider work, which has considered each piece of Guidance and whether it required amendment. These three pieces have been updated in light of stakeholder feedback. Changes include modifying text to improve accessibility and impact and clarifying the purpose and content of Guidance itself.
Our statement sets out the background to the further amendments made to our proposals and gives insight into the ongoing work undertaken prior to the publication of the final two pieces of Guidance. Published today:
- Statement following public consultation
- Advice services
- Enabling consumer spend control
- Digital marketing and promotion
Revisions have been made to the remaining two pieces of Guidance, Subscription services and Method of exiting a service, following feedback received and research undertaken. We intend to publish these two pieces of Guidance later in the summer.
These two pieces of Guidance will be published alongside proposals to streamline our regulatory framework to promote competition and innovation, while ensuring we have the appropriate tools in place to protect consumers.
