David Edmonds CBE reappointed as Chairman of the Phone-paid Services Authority

31 May 2018

The Phone-paid Services Authority (PSA) announces the reappointment of David Edmonds CBE as Chairman of the Board. David was appointed on an initial three-year term in 2015 and will now serve a second term beginning in September this year. David’s reappointment was approved by Ofcom.

David Edmonds said:

“I’m very pleased to have been reappointed as Chairman of the PSA. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my first three years in post and look forward to working with the Board and Executive for a further term.

We have an exciting period ahead. The market we regulate is undergoing a period of change, with new opportunities for innovation and growth in the consumer interest. Our goal will continue to be to protect consumers from harm and create the right conditions for the market to deliver services that consumers enjoy.”

Speaking on behalf of the Board, Kevin Brown, Senior Independent Director said:

“The Board are delighted that David has agreed to fulfil a second term as chairman and that Ofcom have approved his reappointment. During David’s first term in office, the PSA introduced a new set of strategic priorities, renamed and rebranded, reformed our investigations and enforcement framework through Code 14 and navigated the introduction of several pieces of key legislation. We also reduced our costs by 20% in real terms and have announced a much reduced levy which will carry through for at least three more years.”
