Notice to Industry: reminder about prior permission deadline for mobile subscription and charge per page services
25 February 2009
PhonepayPlus would like to remind all service providers that 4 March 2009 is the deadline for submitting prior permission applications.
PhonepayPlus would like to remind all service providers that 4 March 2009 is the deadline for submitting prior permission applications for the following categories of service:
- subscription services, and/or services with joining fees, which cost consumers more than £4.50 in any given seven day period;
- services which charge per page or image viewed.
Any such services operating after 4 March 2009 without a licence, or where the service provider has not applied for a licence, will be considered to be in breach of the PhonepayPlus Code of Practice (11th Edition - Amended April 2008)
Service providers are reminded that they must either apply for a licence in respect of each information provider with whom they contract with respect to providing such services or, alternatively, require each information provider to complete an application which the service provider must endorse.
Prior permission application forms can be found on the PhonepayPlus website. If you have any questions, please contact the Industry Support Team on 0845 026 1060,* or by email at email@example.com
*(Calls provided by BT will be charged at up to 4 pence per minute at all times. A set-up fee of up to 6 pence per call applies to calls from residential lines. Mobile and other providers' charges may vary).
