Parcel delivery number switched off

5 May 2010

PhonepayPlus, the phone-paid services regulator, has requested that the premium rate number 09066641142 be switched off, following two complaints from members of the public that live in the West Yorkshire area.

The complaints relate to a yellow parcel delivery card that is put through letterboxes and encourages recipients to call a premium rate number to re-arrange delivery.

PhonepayPlus has been in contact with the Network Operator through whom the number operates, who immediately agreed to switch the number off and withhold any revenue generated on the number pending further investigation.

PhonepayPlus encourages all consumers, whether they live in West Yorkshire or elsewhere in the UK, to contact PhonepayPlus if they receive a parcel delivery card with this number or any other number beginning 09 on it.

PhonepayPlus can be reached on 0800 500 212 (Mon-Fri, 8am-6pm), or via its website: www.phonepayplus.org.uk
