Consultation on proposals to enhance effectiveness of sanctions
Today the Phone-paid Services Authority (PSA) has launched a consultation on proposals to enhance effectiveness of sanctions imposed by PSA Tribunals on non-compliant providers.
We have been reviewing the effectiveness of our approach to sanctioning. In particular we have reviewed whether our current approach effectively achieves our goals of preventing consumer harm, protecting the reputation of the market and creates a level playing field for industry.
We are consulting on amendments to the sections of our Supporting Procedures which set out the procedures adopted by the Tribunal when imposing sanctions. The proposed changes are to sections 12, 13 and 14 of the Supporting Procedures.
Further information about our proposals are set out in the consultation paper.
The proposals are only likely to impact those providers subject to enforcement action.
The consultation runs until 18 May 2017. Details of how to respond to are outlined in Section 4 of the consultation document.
Our blog post on effective sanctioning sets out our approach to effective sanctioning and further background information.
